Over 1.4 million homes and businesses lost power in Florida as Hurricane Irma pummeled the southern part of the state, the state’s biggest power company Florida Power & Light (FPL) said on Sunday.

Separately, Keys Energy Services, which serves about 29,000 customers in the Florida Keys, said almost all of its customers had outages.

Irma was crossing over the Florida Keys Sunday morning and was headed for the state’s southwest coast with maximum sustained winds of 130 miles (215 kilometers) per hour, making it a dangerous Category 4 storm, according to the latest update from the U.S. National Hurricane Center.
