Over 140 people arrested, dozens injured in Spain as mass protests sweep across Europe
Over 140 people have been arrested and 74 injured, including 43 police officers, as Spanish police react swiftly to reports of property damage and disorderly behavior while mass protests that began in Spain continue to roll out across the EU.
A wave of anti-austerity anger is sweeping across Europe. Spain and Portugal are undergoing general strikes, whereas Greece and Italy are seeing many walkouts.

Police have reportedly fired rubber bullets to disperse protesters in Barcelona and Madrid.
Massive anti-austerity protest floods Madrid
Protesters on Wednesday flooded Madrid in a massive show of force against biting austerity policies, capping a Europe-wide day of strikes and protests.
Activists, chanting, whistling and setting off firecrackers, swamped a stretch of about two kilometres (more than a mile) of a broad avenue from the main Atocha railway station to the symbolic Plaza de Colon square.
Many tens of thousands of people joined the rally in the Spanish capital, swarming around the main squares, where red-and-white union banners were strung up declaring: “They are taking away our future.”

Nigel Farage continues:
“I was actually due to go to the European Parliament today but couldn’t get there. No planes, no trains. Ostensibly the strikes are about protests to government austerity. Strikes are now becoming an almost everyday feature of life in Europe.
