The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said that 92 members of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) were killed in an attack carried out by Daesh in the outskirts of Deir Ez-Zor in the east of Syria, Arabi21 reported yesterday.

According to the Observatory, a three-day battle followed the attack which took place on Friday between Daesh and the militias of the SDF.

The Observatory said that 131 people were killed during the battle, including 51 civilians, the remaining were Daesh fighters and their families.

Daesh used the foggy weather conditions to launch an attack against the US-backed SDF forces, Arabi21 reported, noting that more than 500 Daesh members took part in the attack. The battles stopped on Sunday when Deash retreated.

The weather conditions meant US fighter jets could not provide cover for the SDF ground forces. “The airstrikes were limited due to the climate,” Shawn Rayan, observatory spokesman, said.
