Mark Zuckerberg banned Paul Joseph Watson and many others who helped President Trump win the 2016 election from both Facebook and Instagram on Thursday.
Paul Joseph Watson, Laura Loomer, Milo Yianappolous just unpersoned by Facebook in latest purge. Labeled "dangerous individuals." Banned for life. This censorship is beyond anti-American. It's truly Orwellian. Everyone should speak out against this.— Mark Dice (@MarkDice) May 2, 2019
From the AP:
After years of pressure to crack down on hate and bigotry, Facebook has banned Louis Farrakhan, Alex Jones and other extremists, saying they violated its ban on "dangerous individuals."
The company also removed right-wing personalities Paul Nehlen, Milo Yiannopoulos, Paul Joseph Watson and Laura Loomer, along with Jones' site, Infowars, which often posts conspiracy theories. The latest bans apply to both Facebook's main service and to Instagram and extend to fan pages and other related accounts.
Every last one of those people helped Trump win in 2016, including Louis Farrakhan.

I have been banned by Facebook.
Was given no reason. I broke none of their rules.
In an authoritarian society controlled by a handful of Silicon Valley giants, all dissent must be purged.

The media was tipped off an hour before Facebook banned me. They're in cahoots.— Paul Joseph Watson (@PrisonPlanet) May 2, 2019
“In times of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act”.
Hopefully, the Trump administration will now take the issue of social media censorship seriously.— Paul Joseph Watson (@PrisonPlanet) May 2, 2019
They're now just banning people for wrongthink.
There's no pretense of enforcing rules.
If you challenge them, you're gone.@realDonaldTrump @DonaldJTrumpJr @parscale
The most disturbing and Orwellian part of the ban is they said they'll ban anyone who shares Infowars content unless they're "explicitly condemning" it (make sure to write you're "explicitly condemning" their content when you share in the future and encourage other people to share it far and wide to "condemn" it as well!):
Facebook went beyond banning individuals today. They will ban anyone who posts links to InfoWars.— Allum Bokhari (@LibertarianBlue) May 3, 2019
This is a formula for culling not just high-level targets but all of their supporters as well.
This will destroy @realDonaldTrump’s digital grassroots. https://t.co/YcGR1kMZIi
Infowars is subject to the strictest ban. Facebook and Instagram will remove any content containing Infowars videos, radio segments, or articles (unless the post is explicitly condemning the content), and Facebook will also remove any groups set up to share Infowars content and events promoting any of the banned extremist figures, according to a company spokesperson. (Twitter, YouTube, and Apple have also banned Jones and Infowars.)
Rep Thomas Massie was the only politician I saw criticize the banning:
How long until they ban a congressman? https://t.co/0YbyvSsfTG— Thomas Massie (@RepThomasMassie) May 2, 2019
President Trump was silent, choosing instead to tweet about his approval rating, the Holocaust and the Mueller report.
Trump 2020 campaign manager Brad Parscale similarly said nothing, though he did retweet Katrina Pierson sharing two old interviews he did talking about tech censorship.
Got this one wrong @Cernovich. Of all the people, @parscale has been fighting the censorship fight in front of - and behind the scenes. We don’t make policy at the campaign - we FIGHT for it! Pls RT, my friend. 🇺🇸 pic.twitter.com/TjjwUlXvpT— Katrina Pierson (@KatrinaPierson) May 3, 2019
Incidentally, today is "World Press Freedom Day" and most of the media is busy cheering these media figures being banned.
And this, on #WorldPressFreedomDay Irony doesn’t begin to cover it.— Peter Whittle AM (@prwhittle) May 3, 2019
As we highlighted last year at the @NewCultureForum , the attack on free speech on social media is intensifying.
The banning of @PrisonPlanet should alarm anyone who genuinely believes in free speech https://t.co/F03ISAbCwh
Paul Joseph Watson made a video slamming the move:
Well it’s finally happened. @PrisonPlanet banned by Facebook and Instagram.— BanTheBBC (@BanTheBBC) May 3, 2019
In a time of universal deceit telling the truth is a revolutionary act. All dissenting voices MUST be silenced. https://t.co/yZzCHJmAXH
Many people have correctly said this is just the beginning:
"Just build your own platform if you don't like being censored" is quickly becoming "Just build your own Internet, global communications infrastructure, and financial system if you don't like being censored."— Inconspicuous Rex (@CrankyTRex) May 2, 2019
It’s not just a social media problem. The Left controls Youtube, Facebook, Instagram, & Twitter but they also control the domain registrars, the payment processors, & ubiquitous internet services like uber. They’re even talking to MasterCard this week— This is only the beginning!— Nicholas J. Fuentes (@NickJFuentes) May 2, 2019

Carpe Donktum, who makes meme videos Trump loves to reupload on his own page, begged Trump to get off his ass and do something about it:
Your biggest supporters are being systematically silenced and removed from social media.— Carpe Donktum🔹 (@CarpeDonktum) May 3, 2019
I know you like my videos... how long before they come for me?
STAND UP TO BIG TECH
Everyone needs to tell Trump and Parscale they will not be voting for him if he won't even lift a finger to secure our free speech rights online.
Demanding everyone have their free speech rights upheld in the digital public square needs to be the number one issue going forward.
UPDATE: On Friday morning, Trump retweeted a screenshot of a Breitbart report on the banning which was shared by Maria Bartiromo.
