Experts have been claiming for years that “Havana Syndrome” (diagnosed in American government employees and their family members) is likely being caused by exposure to electromagnetic and/or microwave energy also known as radio frequency (RF) (see 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9). In August 2022 the Biden administration started providing financial compensation to some victims; however, allegedly few if any of them are employed by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). In September FBI agents who reported symptoms claimed they were also being ignored by the government so some of them hired lawyers. More recently, the CIA issued a new report about what may and may not be causing the condition.

CIA: Can’t prove ‘Havana Syndrome’ came from enemy attack
A phased investigation report released by the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency on the 20th believes that most of the so-called “Havana syndrome” among U.S. embassy personnel may be caused by environmental factors, unidentified health problems and stress. It is not caused by the large-scale use of “secret weapons” by a hostile country.
Allegedly, “Havana Syndrome” involves U.S. diplomatic personnel and their families in Cuba, France, Australia, Switzerland, Austria, Russia, Germany and other countries, and most of the cases are resident in Havana, the capital of Cuba.
According to the reports of these expatriates, since 2016, they have experienced hearing loss, dizziness, nausea, migraine, fatigue and other symptoms. The U.S. government later called these symptoms consistent with “mild traumatic brain injury” as “Havana syndrome”, and believed that it was caused by the use of a “secret weapon” by a hostile country. At the end of 2020, the National Academy of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine, which was commissioned by the U.S. State Department to investigate the matter, issued a report stating that the attack from “radio frequency waves” should be the most credible explanation for “Havana syndrome”.
According to reports from the US media, several CIA officials, who did not want to be named, revealed that the CIA investigated most of the about 1,000 “Havana syndrome” cases and believed that these cases “cannot be explained by the same reason.” , but “unlikely to have been caused by the use of a ‘secret weapon’ by a hostile state”. However, the CIA also said that the investigation has not been completed, and that there are still more than 20 cases “without investigating the reasons that can be explained”, so “the possibility that foreign forces are behind the scenes cannot be ruled out.”
Following the release of the CIA report, some in the U.S. intelligence community and those believed to be affected by Havana syndrome expressed dissatisfaction, arguing that the lack of coordination with other agencies before the CIA’s findings did not reflect the consensus view of the U.S. intelligence community .
The Cuban government has repeatedly denied and condemned the U.S. accusation that Cuba has used “sonic weapons” and “radio frequency waves” to threaten the health of U.S. diplomats, which has led to a setback in Cuba-U.S. relations. A statement issued by the Cuban government in August 2017 said that “Cuba has never, and will never, permit any activity on Cuban soil that is detrimental to diplomats or their families”.
When people experience symptoms and illnesses after being exposed to electromagnetic fields (EMF) – also referred to as “Electrosmog” – this is often referred to as Microwave Sickness, Radiation Sickness, Electromagnetic Sensitivity (ES) and/or Electromagnetic Hypersensivity (EHS). Electrosmog includes microwave aka radio frequency (RF) aka wireless “Wi-Fi” radiation from cell phones, cell towers, utility “smart” meters, 5G, and numerous other sources. Decades of research has already determined that exposure is biologically harmful and ES is a federally recognized disability in the U.S. In 2021 a federal court ruled in favor of organizations and petitioners that sued the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) for NOT adequately protecting Americans from wireless radiation exposure, including 5G. In November 2022 one of the organizations announced it is seeking plaintiffs who have been injured by exposure from cell towers and Wi-Fi.
As more government employees report “Havana Syndrome” symptoms and file lawsuits, the connection to ES, etc. becomes increasingly obvious to some scientists, but evidently not all of them. Perhaps as the media continues reporting about “Havana Syndrome” victims, more Americans will realize that they also may be suffering from symptoms, illnesses, and injuries caused by exposure to electronic and wireless devices and/or infrastructure.
